The Organization's History

This nonprofit organization was founded in February 2012 with the mission of helping poor widows who suffer alongside their children as a result of their loss. In 2011, the president of the organization observed during his research that most widows in Ghana suffer from the hands of their deceased husbands’ families. He conducted three months’ research, and it proved that most widows undergo severe hardship alongside their children after their husbands’ death. The research showed that every year about five thousand widows in Ghana suffer from their husbands’ families, where the families used to confiscate almost every property left behind for the widows and their children by their dead husbands. He then started advocating to help the women and their children to get assistance from donors. In February 2012, he raised $10,000.00 to assist those who were severely affected by that problem.

The organization measures its performance by seeing how many people it serves each year. This organization has provided much assistance to its members. Within the last seven years, the organization has hired two lawyers who litigate matters on behalf of these poor widows and their husbands' families. Between 2013 to 2020, about 72 affected widows were assisted by the organization's lawyers who provided them with legal aid services in court, of which 40 cases have already won, and the rest are still pending in court. The organization has provided health insurance for numerous widows and their children during the 2019 and 2020 enrollment periods. It has also provided school supplies for several children of these widows.

At the end of every year, the organization offers clothes and assorted food items to them. Most kids also enjoy free tutoring from our volunteer teachers and the organization also offers them the assistance that allowed them to participate in various children competitions organized in their different districts. Furthermore, the organization is planning to provide small businesses for these poor widows so that they can provide for their children. We have planned to deliver at least 450 premiums in the 2019 health insurance enrollment period for these women and their children. The enrollment starts every first week of July.
